The Rhythm and Dreams Dancing Centre was set up by Vicki Smith in January 2000. Located above 'The Bosun' on Hessle High Road, we can offer a friendly and lively atmosphere during our classes within our comfortable and pleasant surroundings.
We have a lounge to sit in before and after classes, an un-licensed bar which offers a range of non-alocoholic drinks, both hot and cold, and a variety of snacks. We also have a ballroom with a sprung oak floor and comfortable seating areas arranged around the edges of the dance floor.
The school is predominantely focused on Ballroom and Latin, although many other types of dance are taught including; old time, freestyle and modern sequence.
The school caters for all ages and abilities and for all sorts of reasons, whether it be for a special occasion for example a wedding waltz, to keep fit, to compete, or purely for social reasons.
The school principal is Vicki Smith, who is a 'Fellow' and Examiner with the International Dance Teachers' Association, and set the school up in the RBL hall in Hessle in January 2000, then moved to a newly refurbished studio above 'The Bosun' pub on Hessle High Road in March 2011.
Vicki Started dancing in 1972 and started teaching in 1986. She qualified to teach professionally with the IDTA in November 1991.
After her initial qualification, Vicki continued to study the technique and theory of Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle, Classical & Modern Sequence, with several well established teachers, including John Knight, Jane Tumelty, Tony Dyer and the late Alex Brown.
Since taking that initial qualification, and following the years of subsequent study, Vicki has since achieved success in Associate, Licentiate and Fellowship qualifications in all subjects.
Vicki finally achieved examiner stautus in Latin Dancing in 2006, and examiner in all the other subjects in 2007.
